Shaun the Sheep film to feature first-ever Japanese dubbing

The upcoming film ‘Shaun the Sheep: Legend of the Pumpkin Patch’ will feature the first-ever Japanese-language dubbing in the history of the series. This marks a significant milestone for the Aardman Animations stop-motion franchise.

Actor Tomoya Nakamura has been cast as a special voice actor, portraying the character known as the ‘Pizza Boy.’ Because the series traditionally features no human dialogue, Nakamura focused on non-verbal expressions, such as breathing and reactive sounds, to convey character emotion without using words.

Additionally, the comedy duo Ganbare Ruya will participate in the dubbing. Member Yoshiko will voice an influencer caught in the film's chaos, while Mahiru will play a secret character to be revealed after the film's release. The duo noted the challenge of communicating emotions through sounds like ‘hun’ to maintain the series' unique non-verbal style. The film is scheduled for release on October 23.
