Shaun Wright-Phillips prepares for Strictly Come Dancing debut

Former England footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips is preparing for his debut on the 2026 series of Strictly Come Dancing. Paired with professional dancer Alexis Warr, Wright-Phillips has stated his goal is to dance as close to a professional level as possible and that he is “in it to win it.”

Ahead of the launch, a supercomputer simulation by British Gambler suggested Wright-Phillips faces significant challenges, giving him only a 0.1 per cent chance of winning the Glitterball Trophy and predicting he could be the first contestant eliminated. In contrast, model Dani Dyer has emerged as the simulation's favorite, winning nearly 25 per cent of the 1,000 simulated series.

Wright-Phillips noted that he received advice from former footballer and recent winner Karen Carney, emphasizing the importance of hard work and respecting professional partners. He also expressed anticipation regarding his father, Ian Wright, watching his performance.
