Shavkat Rakhmonov's UFC return remains uncertain amid injury concerns

The future of undefeated UFC welterweight contender Shavkat Rakhmonov remains a subject of debate following a lengthy absence due to a knee injury. Rakhmonov, who holds a 19-0 record, has not competed since December 2024 after defeating Ian Machado Garry.

Stephen Thompson expressed confidence in a comeback, suggesting that Rakhmonov has continued to train through his injury and may return with a stronger mindset and improved skill. Thompson warned others not to underestimate the Kazakh fighter, noting his reputation as a dedicated martial artist.

Conversely, divisional rival Sean Brady expressed skepticism regarding a return to the Octagon. Brady suggested that recurring knee issues might prevent Rakhmonov from completing training camps, stating, “I don’t think he’s ever gonna fight again. I think he’s done.” While Rakhmonov was previously positioned for a title shot against Belal Muhammad, the injury led to other fighters ascending the rankings during his absence.
