Shawn Levy discusses upcoming ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ film

Director Shawn Levy has shared insights regarding his upcoming film, ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’, which is scheduled for a theatrical release in May 2027. Levy, known for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, described his approach to the franchise as being a fan first, stating, “When I make a Marvel movie, I’m a Marvel fan making that movie. When I’m making Star Wars, I’m a fan making that movie.”

The film is an original standalone story set approximately five years after the events of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’, following the fall of the First Order. The plot features Ryan Gosling as Kade Auberon, a cynical pilot tasked with a high-stakes mission to protect a young boy played by Flynn Gray.

Levy praised Gosling as a ‘great muse’ and an inspiring partner during his recent comments to People magazine.
