Shawn Mendes to record new album in Brazil studio

Singer Shawn Mendes has announced that he is setting up a music studio in Brazil to begin work on his next album. In an interview with Esquire, Mendes confirmed that he is officially starting production, stating, “I have been setting up a studio in Brazil for some time, so I am going there today — it is practically the first day of work on my next album.”

While the artist noted that he has many ideas for the project, he declined to provide specific details regarding the musical direction or title, describing the upcoming work simply as “something very special.” This follows the conclusion of his “On the Road Again” tour, which celebrated his recent album, “Shawn,” and the tenth anniversary of his debut, “Handwritten.”

Mendes' increased presence in Brazil coincides with his relationship with Brazilian actress Bruna Marquezine. The singer has been frequently seen in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, fueling speculation regarding his potential long-term residence in the country.
