Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer renovate a one-euro house in Sicily

Interior designer Shaynna Blaze and co-star Darren Palmer are undertaking a renovation project in the Sicilian village of Castronovo for the new series ‘1 Euro House’. The duo purchased a historic, dilapidated property for a symbolic one euro as part of local municipal schemes designed to combat population decline and revitalize aging town centers.

Blaze has highlighted the complexities involved in these types of overseas purchases, noting that the process requires significant legal work and paperwork. Challenges include ensuring all heirs of a property are present to sign documents and navigating local logistics, such as difficulty sourcing building supplies and outdated digital business information in remote areas.

The eight-episode series, premiering on Channel 9 and 9Now, follows the pair as they manage the structural surprises and cultural differences of renovating a centuries-old stone building without a prior builder’s report.
