Sheba Medical Center becomes OpenAI’s first international AI‑powered hospital

Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv, announced a partnership with OpenAI, making it the first international hospital to run on an AI‑powered clinical reasoning platform. The system gives physicians, nurses, researchers and staff secure access to a tool that synthesizes millions of peer‑reviewed studies, clinical guidelines and public‑health sources, providing citations and reference dates for each recommendation.

OpenAI’s models will not be trained on Sheba’s data, and patient information remains protected by isolation and audit protocols. Final medical decisions stay with Sheba’s clinicians. The platform will also incorporate Sheba’s own clinical protocols, automate routine administrative tasks, and reduce documentation burdens. Professor Eyal Zimlichman, chief innovation and AI officer at Sheba and founder of the ARC transformation engine, said the collaboration aims to build a fully AI‑powered hospital and provide OpenAI with real‑world clinical feedback.

Through the partnership, Sheba will receive early access to OpenAI’s newest models for research, while OpenAI gains insight into hospital workflows to guide future healthcare AI development.
