Sheffield coffee firm Cafeology completes partial management buyout
Cafeology, a Sheffield‑based importer, roaster and distributor of sustainably sourced coffee, has completed a partial management buyout. Senior managers Steve Hampshire, head of coffee, and Joe Cross, head of operations, acquired a majority stake, while founders Andy McClatchey and Bryan Unkles, together with shareholder Toni Unkles, will remain involved over the medium term.
The transaction was partially funded by the South Yorkshire Debt Fund, managed by FW Capital for the South Yorkshire Pensions Authority, and advised by Hart Shaw Corporate Finance. The buyout is intended to secure the company’s long‑term future, preserve its ethical culture and enable further sustainable growth across its customer base of universities, sports venues and independent retailers in the UK.
