Sheffield funeral held for murdered newborn girl

A funeral service was held at Sheffield Cathedral for a newborn girl who was killed in August in the Wincobank area of Sheffield. The infant died after sustaining 33 injuries, including 15 stab wounds, shortly after birth.

Four individuals, identified as Slovak nationals, have been charged in connection with the death: 20-year-old mother Andrea S., 19-year-old Peter H., and his parents, 38-year-old Peter H. and 37-year-old Nina H. A 15-year-old girl has also been accused of obstructing justice. While the mother has denied involvement in the murder, all suspects remain in custody.

The service, led by Reverend Chris Posluszny, was conducted in both English and Slovak to accommodate the grieving community. Although the court initially considered postponing the funeral until after the legal proceedings conclude in April, permission was eventually granted for the service to proceed.
