Sheffield Steelers defeat Coventry Blaze 6-0 in season opener
The Sheffield Steelers opened their season with a 6-0 victory over the Coventry Blaze at the Utilita Arena. The win featured significant individual milestones for two long-standing club members.
Captain Robert Dowd recorded four points during the match, scoring once and providing three assists. This performance brought his career total to 792 points, moving him level with club legend Ron Shudra on the all-time points list. Dowd is now one point away from becoming the Steelers’ all-time leading scorer.
Goaltender Matt Greenfield also achieved a milestone by recording his 26th career shutout for the club, surpassing the previous record of 24 held by Jody Lehman. The Steelers' scoring was distributed among Ivan Bjorkly-Nordstrom, Olivier Archambault, Mikko Juusola, Evan Jasper, and Leevi Teissala.
