Sheffield Theatres presents Twelfth Night at the Crucible
Sheffield Theatres’ new Shakespeare repertory company has presented a production of ‘Twelfth Night’ at the Crucible Theatre. Serving as a lighter companion piece to their recent staging of ‘King Lear’, the production utilizes a minimalist set and a thrust stage to maintain high energy and fluid movement.
Directed by Jamie Glover, the production features Matthew Horne as the pompous Malvolio, delivering a performance noted for its physical comedy and its exploration of the character’s darker, more humiliating descent. The cast includes Bebe Sanders as Viola, Harry Redding as Sebastian, Justina Kehinde as Olivia, and Fode Simbo as Duke Orsino. Reviews highlight the chemistry between the leads and the production’s effective use of the theatre’s space to navigate the play’s themes of mistaken identity and romance.
