Sheffield United eliminated from Carabao Cup by Fleetwood Town

Sheffield United has been eliminated from the Carabao Cup following a third-round defeat against Fleetwood Town, a club currently competing in League Two, the fourth tier of English football.

The match was decided in the 57th minute when an own goal by Rhys Norrington-Davies resulted from a cross by Danny Andrew. In an attempt to recover, manager Chris Wilder introduced regular starters, including Chilean-English forward Ben Brereton Díaz, who entered the pitch in the 59th minute. However, the substitution was unable to prevent the loss.

Following this exit, Sheffield United's focus shifts to the Championship, where they currently sit in 15th position. The team will also participate in the FA Cup starting in January 2027.
