Sheffield Wednesday dismiss manager Henrik Pedersen

Sheffield Wednesday have sacked manager Henrik Pedersen following a decline in recent league performance. The decision comes after the club secured only one win in their last six matches, a slump that saw them drop to eighth place in League One following a 2-0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers.

Pedersen’s 15-month tenure included navigating the club through a period of significant instability, including administration, points deductions, and relegation from the Championship. Despite a strong start to the current season—which included a 7-2 victory over Bromley and a temporary position at the top of the table—the club cited a lack of development and consistency as the primary reasons for his dismissal.

Sporting Director Simon Wilson expressed gratitude for Pedersen’s professionalism and leadership during a challenging era, noting that while the club had accumulated points, they had not met expectations regarding a recognizable style of play and consistent performance.
