Sheggz noted that his decision to speak out was prompted by efforts to tarnish his reputation. He cited trust and respect issues as the primary reasons for the split, mentioning that he had previously discovered information that caused him to question the honesty within the relationship. He also revealed that he had purchased an engagement ring during their time together, indicating his original intention for marriage.

Following the announcement, Sandra Okagbue, Bella’s elder sister, publicly requested that Sheggz remove photos of Bella from his social media pages.
