At the 81st UN General Assembly, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed several regional and security issues. He condemned recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, stating that any threat to the sanctity of the holy cities of Mecca and Medina is a “red line that must never be crossed.”

Sharif also raised the Kashmir dispute, calling for a “just and fair solution” and a free plebiscite. He credited former US President Donald Trump for his “timely intervention” during the 2025 conflict between India and Pakistan, which Sharif claimed prevented an all-out war.

During his visit, Sharif faced intense questioning from journalists regarding Pakistan's alleged sheltering of terrorists. He declined to respond to inquiries concerning when his administration would prosecute Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed.

In response to Sharif's remarks, Indian diplomats criticized Pakistan's role in cross-border terrorism. Petal Gahlot, First Secretary at India's UN Mission, asserted that Pakistan's support for terrorism would have consequences and urged the assembly to recognize the reality of Islamabad's policies.
