Shehbaz Sharif invites opposition to political dialogue

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended a renewed invitation to opposition parties for meaningful dialogue to resolve political disputes. Speaking during a federal cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister stated that the government is prepared to negotiate to strengthen the country’s democratic system and support economic development. He noted that the responsibility to return to the negotiating table now rests with the opposition.

The outreach follows a period of significant political tension involving the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Recent developments include a Supreme Court directive to move PTI founder Imran Khan from Adiala jail to Shifa International Hospital. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan indicated that the proper implementation of judicial orders could help cool the political climate.

In addition to political matters, the Prime Minister addressed economic relief efforts, noting that the government allocated Rs128 billion to provide public relief, including a Rs32-per-litre reduction in diesel prices. He attributed some economic pressures to the international energy situation and regional refinery shutdowns.
