Shehzad Poonawalla resigns from BJP citing financial reasons

Shehzad Poonawalla, a national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has resigned from all party positions and primary membership. Poonawalla stated that his decision was driven by personal and financial circumstances, specifically citing an inability to pay rent, noting that political parties typically do not provide salaries to their spokespersons.

Poonawalla emphasized that his departure is not due to ideological disagreements with the party leadership. He expressed continued support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, stating his commitment to the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ remains unchanged. He also expressed gratitude to senior leaders including Amit Shah, J.P. Nadda, and Rajnath Singh.

Regarding his future political direction, Poonawalla indicated he would consider joining the Indian National Congress only under specific conditions. These include the removal of Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from party leadership, as well as an apology regarding the past actions of Jawaharlal Nehru.
