Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani, Masjidil Haram muazin, passes away

Sheikh Ibrahim bin Adel Hamzah Al-Madani, a prominent muazin at Masjidil Haram in Makkah, has passed away. He died in the early hours of Monday, September 21, at approximately 48 to 50 years of age.

Born in Madinah, Al-Madani grew up in a religious environment influenced by his grandfather, a Quran memorizer. He began his service as a muazin at age 15 in Madinah before briefly transitioning to teaching. He returned to calling the adhan at Masjid Al-Maddah in 2007 and was officially appointed as a muazin at Masjidil Haram in 2017 or 2018.

Al-Madani was noted for his expertise in different melodic styles, including the soft, emotional Madinah style and the powerful, majestic Makkah style. His final adhan was heard during the first call for the Subuh prayer. His funeral prayer was held at Masjidil Haram following the Asar prayer, and he was laid to rest at the Al Mualla Cemetery in Makkah.
