Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City launches multidisciplinary Lupus Clinic

Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), a subsidiary of PureHealth, has launched an integrated multidisciplinary Lupus Clinic in the UAE. The clinic utilizes a single-visit model where a team of specialists—including rheumatologists, nephrologists, dermatologists, neurologists, and haematologists—evaluates patients together to develop coordinated treatment plans.

This approach aims to simplify the treatment journey for individuals with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a chronic autoimmune disease that affects multiple organs such as the kidneys, brain, and cardiovascular system. The clinic also provides pharmacy services and psychological support.

A key focus of the new facility is supporting women living with lupus, particularly those planning families. By integrating rheumatology, obstetrics, and haematology, the clinic offers specialized pregnancy planning, maternal-foetal monitoring, and blood clot management.
