Sheinbaum confirms progress in trade talks with Donald Trump

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed she held a telephone call with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss ongoing trade negotiations. While Sheinbaum noted that the conversation was positive and that certain agreements were reached, she stated that a formal announcement cannot be made until a definitive final agreement is concluded.

Sheinbaum, accompanied by Foreign Secretary Roberto Velasco and Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard during the discussions, emphasized that the possibility of a Mexico-U.S. agreement is progressing well. The Mexican government is specifically pushing to reduce tariffs on aluminum, steel, and the automotive industry to mitigate the impact of U.S. trade decisions.

Sheinbaum also addressed the economic integration between the two nations, noting that employment generation in Mexico contributes to job creation in the United States due to their highly integrated economies.
