Shell executes US power plant acquisition and $715 million sale

Shell Energy North America (SENA) has completed two major transactions as part of its US power portfolio management. The company acquired 100% equity in Hunlock Creek Generating LLC, which operates 169 megawatts of natural gas-fired generation capacity in Pennsylvania. This acquisition is intended to strengthen SENA’s position within the PJM Interconnection power market.

Simultaneously, SENA sold its interests in RISEC Holdings, LLC to Constellation Energy Generation, LLC for $715 million. RISEC owns a 609-MW, two-unit combined cycle gas turbine power plant that serves the New England power market. Shell stated that the sale allows the company to realize significant value on an accelerated timeline compared to its original long-term ownership expectations.
