Shell to acquire ARC Resources, targeting $1.5 B annual free cash flow

Shell executives outlined the strategic and financial rationale for the planned acquisition of Canadian oil producer ARC Resources during a company webcast led by CEO Wael Sawan and CFO Sinead Gorman. The deal is presented as a portfolio fit that leverages ARC's Montney shale assets and offers upside in liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects. Shell expects the acquisition to generate about $1.5 billion of annual free cash flow and to strengthen its capital allocation framework.

The announcement emphasizes the alignment of ARC’s scale with Shell’s long‑term growth objectives and its contribution to the energy transition strategy.
