Shelter dogs Bentley and Hercules join U.S. Border Patrol
Two shelter dogs, Bentley and Hercules, have officially graduated as incident response dogs for the U.S. Border Patrol.
Bentley, who originally lived on the streets of Ciudad Juárez, was treated for a medical issue by the Animal Rescue League (ARL) of El Paso before being selected for the Border Patrol Academy. Bentley and his trainer are traveling to Washington, D.C., to serve in customs and maritime protection operations.
Hercule arrived from a high-mortality institution where he faced the risk of being euthanized. Following his training, Hercules and his trainer are heading to Tucson to work with customs and maritime operations at the border. The ARL expressed gratitude to the Border Patrol for providing these shelter animals with a second chance to serve the country.
