Shelter Rock Jewish Center to host public Sukkot event

The Shelter Rock Jewish Center is opening its annual Sukkah to the public on Thursday, Oct. 1. The event, which coincides with Hoshana Rabbah, will feature Israeli cuisine, art, and Jewish study sessions led by Rabbi Claudio Kupchik.

Sponsored alongside Temple Beth Sholom of Roslyn Heights and supported by the UJA-Federation of New York, the evening aims to celebrate the Sukkot harvest festival, which emphasizes hospitality and charity. Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items for local food banks. Admission is free for those who preregister, while door admission is $36.

In preparation for the holiday season, various kosher dessert recipes have also been shared for Sukkot and Rosh Hashanah celebrations, including various fruit sorbets, ice cream logs, and strawberry-based desserts.
