Shen Bo-yang Criticizes Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an Ahead of Campaign

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Bo-yang said he will continue grassroots outreach, visiting markets and holding meetings across the city to gather citizen input. Starting in August, he plans to roll out a series of municipal policies aimed at improving Taipei, emphasizing technology‑driven planning and a vision he calls “Unlimited City.”

Shen sharply criticized incumbent mayor Chiang Wan-an, accusing him of “everything being stuck.” He cited delayed infrastructure projects, persistent flooding in Neihu, poorly maintained parks, the lowest long‑term care bed coverage among the six major cities, a budget shortfall of NT$744 million, and school‑lunch contract failures affecting over 100,000 students. Shen also highlighted a decade‑long loss of 27,700 residents, a high number of child‑abuse cases, and inadequate support for the elderly and low‑income workers, arguing that Chiang has focused on national political maneuvers rather than city governance.
