Shen Po-yang addresses missing DPP figures and student controversy
Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Po-yang attended a meeting in Wanhua organized with Taipei City Councilor Liu Yao-jen. The event saw the absence of several key DPP figures, including Legislative Yuan caucus leader Chuang Jui-hsiung, Secretary-General Hsu Kuo-yung, and legislator Wang Shih-chien.
Liu Yao-jen explained that Chuang Jui-hsiung was unable to fly from Taitung due to heavy rain, Hsu Kuo-yung had a family emergency, and Wang Shih-chien was absent unexpectedly. Shen Po-yang noted that such scheduling difficulties are common during intense election periods.
Separately, Shen addressed a viral incident involving a high school student who presented him with a certificate that had former Hsinchu Mayor Kao Hung-an's signature crossed out. Shen urged the public not to attack students for their creative expressions during campaigns, stating that political debates should focus on municipal policies rather than personal animosity.
