Shen Po-yang interview sparks online abuse and policy debates

Journalist Chien Yi-chun has announced intentions to take legal action against internet users following a wave of online abuse and insults, including being called a ‘prostitute,’ after her interview with Shen Po-yang on the program ‘Sean Kom War Room.’ Chien noted that while she found Shen to be an intelligent and engaging interviewee, she felt his responses regarding drug issues were evasive and lacked sincerity.

Shen Po-yang responded to the situation by noting that the limited time during the broadcast prevented in-depth follow-up questions, which may have contributed to the perception of incomplete answers. He also expressed support for a respectful dialogue.

In a separate discussion regarding Shen’s political stances, educator Q-Ta defended Shen against criticisms regarding his past views on the death penalty and drug decriminalization. Q-Ta argued that Shen’s previous academic positions were rooted in education and harm reduction, and that a candidate’s ability to adjust policy approaches based on social consensus and practical reality does not necessarily equate to a lack of core principles.
