Shen Boyang faces cyberattacks and shifts in Taipei mayoral polls

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Boyang is facing significant challenges during the 2026 election cycle. His campaign reported a coordinated cyberattack from overseas IP addresses, which successfully flooded a campaign website with over 70,000 pieces of fraudulent data within a single hour. While the primary campaign website remained secure due to its independent architecture, the attack targeted a specific site used for campaign activities.

Simultaneously, recent street polling near Shuanglian Market indicates a shift in voter sentiment. A survey conducted by the YouTube channel ‘Street Party’ showed Shen Boyang leading incumbent Chiang Wan-an with 36 votes to 27. This represents a reversal from previous polling where Chiang held a lead.

Shen has also been active in policy promotion, recently releasing ‘Yangliu Zhi,’ a series of policy white papers presented in a literary format to engage citizens through art and culture. He has also advocated for administrative relief in social welfare sectors and the deployment of AI coaches to assist frontline workers.
