Shenghe to invest 25 million euros in battery recycling plant in Zaragoza

Shenghe Energy Technology, through its subsidiary Veranova Technology, has confirmed a 25 million euro investment to establish a circular economy plant in Pedrola, Zaragoza. The facility will focus on the intensive recycling of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), a critical solvent used in the manufacturing of electric vehicle batteries.

The plant is expected to occupy up to 20,000 square meters in the El Pradillo industrial estate and will have the capacity to process up to 100,000 tons of NMP annually. Using a high-purity distillation process, the facility aims to recover the solvent with a purity level exceeding 99.92%, allowing it to be reintroduced into automotive production lines.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the coming months, with the goal of having the plant fully operational by 2028. The project is expected to create approximately 100 direct jobs and will be supported by Aragón Exterior (Arex), which facilitated the strategic land acquisition process.
