Shenzhen Airlines launches direct Brunei-Shenzhen flight

Shenzhen Airlines has launched a new direct flight route between Brunei and Shenzhen, establishing a direct air link between the sultanate and a major economic hub in southern China. The service commenced on September 29 and is expected to bolster tourism and connectivity between the two regions.

The route will initially operate as a charter service four times a week for three months before transitioning to three scheduled flights per week. This connection aims to support Brunei’s ‘Visit Brunei 2027’ tourism campaign and provides travelers access to a broader Chinese network, including cities such as Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Xinjiang.

According to Anthony Lim, director of APG Brunei, direct connectivity has been a challenge since the COVID-19 pandemic. While Chinese visitor numbers to Brunei have recovered to 45,858 in 2025, the new route is intended to help return arrival figures closer to the pre-pandemic level of approximately 74,000 visitors recorded in 2019.
