Shenzhen factory worker gains attention for free company dormitory

A female worker at a battery manufacturing company in Shenzhen, China, has gained social media attention on Xiaohongshu for her living arrangements. She resides in a 21-square-meter room provided entirely free of charge by her employer, which rents the space from a landlord to house staff.

The room is located on the sixth floor of a building without an elevator, situated just a three-minute walk from her workplace. While the unit lacks a private kitchen, it is equipped with air conditioning, a water heater, and a private bathroom. The worker, identified as A Xiang, earns a monthly salary of over 2,600 NDT.

She has documented her efforts to personalize and organize the space using budget-friendly methods, such as refurbishing old furniture. Despite the lack of a kitchen and the need to climb stairs, she expressed satisfaction with the arrangement.
