Shenzhen hospital discharges premature baby born at 330 grams

A premature baby boy, weighing only 330 grams at birth, has been discharged from a hospital in Shenzhen, China, after 105 days of intensive medical treatment. Born at 23 weeks and 4 days of gestation, the infant, nicknamed Little Zebao, is noted as one of the lowest-weight premature babies ever saved in Guangdong province.

The mother required an early delivery due to chronic hypertension and severe preeclampsia. Upon birth, the infant required immediate respiratory support via intubation and specialized care to manage extremely thin skin and an underdeveloped immune system. Medical staff utilized specialized films to maintain body temperature and prevent dehydration.

During the third day of life, the infant faced a critical period involving a drop in heart rate and oxygen levels, which was diagnosed as fluid accumulation in the pericardium. Doctors performed a successful aspiration procedure to stabilize him. On September 1, the baby was discharged in stable condition with a weight of 2.5 kg.
