The Shenzhen Open snooker world ranking event has commenced at the Bao’an Sports Center. The tournament features a total prize pool of £850,000, with the champion set to receive £177,000.
In a significant opening day upset, world number 14 Ronnie O’Sullivan was eliminated in his debut match. He lost 5-2 to Jiang Jun, who is currently ranked 64th in the world. Although O’Sullivan managed to level the score at 2-2, he was unable to secure further frames, ultimately falling to the 21-year-old.
Defending champion Mark Williams, who won the title in Xi’an last year, is among the top stars participating in the event. Other notable competitors include Mark Selby and Shaun Murphy.
