Shenzhou-23 astronauts hold live space science lesson for Hong Kong and Macao students

The three astronauts of the Shenzhou-23 mission, currently stationed aboard the Tiangong space station, conducted a live science lesson from space for students in Hong Kong and Macao. The session was organized jointly by the China Manned Space Agency and the governments of the two Special Administrative Regions.

The crew, including mission commander Zhu Yangzhu, astronaut Zhang Zhiyuan, and payload specialist Li Jiaying (also known as Lai Ka-ying), performed real-time scientific experiments. Demonstrations included preparing food in the space kitchen, managing a space garden, and demonstrating the operation of MUSICO, a high-precision detector for carbon dioxide and light methane sources developed by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

While 160 students from Hong Kong and 50 from Macao attended the main event in person at Tsuen Wan Public Ho Chuen Yiu Memorial College, the governments also arranged live broadcasts for primary and secondary school campuses across both regions.
