Sher-e-Punjab T20 League launched in New Chandigarh

The Punjab Cricket Association officially launched the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League on 2 August 2026 at the PCA International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. The inaugural edition will run from 30 August to 13 September 2026, featuring six franchises representing Amritsar, Fazilka, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Mohali and Bathinda in a round‑robin format of 27 matches.

marquee players announced for the first season include India Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill, fast bowler Arshdeep Singh, and domestic stars Abhishek Sharma, Gurnoor Brar, Prabhsimran Singh and Ramandeep Singh. The league was unveiled by PCA secretary Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and president Amarjeet Singh Mehta, with the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. An auction is scheduled for 9 August, with player categories ranging from marquee (₹10 lakh) to icon (₹1.5 lakh) and various domestic tiers.

Gill described the tournament as “a fantastic platform for young cricketers to showcase their talent and progress towards playing for Punjab and India,” echoing PCA officials who highlighted Punjab’s historic contribution to Indian cricket and the league’s aim to nurture emerging talent.
