Shergar Cup 2026 Returns to Ascot with New Hong Kong Team

The annual Shergar Cup team competition is set for Saturday, 8 August 2026 at Ascot Racecourse. Six flat races – five Class 2 handicaps and one Class 3 – will be contested, with points awarded to the top five finishers in each race. Four teams – Hong Kong, Europe, Great Britain & Ireland, and Rest of the World – will compete for the overall trophy, while the leading jockey receives a cash bonus and the Alistair Haggis Silver Saddle.

The Great Britain & Ireland team features Ryan Moore, Dylan Browne McMonagle and Saffie Osborne. A Hong Kong team makes its debut, and the event will be the first to include all six races in the Hong Kong Jockey Club‑run World Pool betting pool, accessible to UK punters via the Tote. The line‑up also includes notable riders such as Vincent Ho, Christophe Lemaire and Jamie Melham.
