Sherina Munaf assists in Central Kalimantan forest fire efforts

Singer and actress Sherina Munaf has joined efforts to combat forest and land fires (karhutla) in Central Kalimantan. Working alongside the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Palangka Raya, she has been assisting volunteers and students in the field.

Munaf described the terrain as extremely challenging due to the nature of the peatland. She noted that the ground remains intensely hot and contains active embers, requiring constant cooling before movement is possible. She highlighted the difficulty of the task, stating that fires often reignite in different areas immediately after being extinguished, such as when one side is put out only for another to flare up.

In addition to physical assistance, the BOSF team provided logistical support to frontline workers, including oxygen, masks, vitamins, and other essential supplies.
