Sherlock Holmes 3 script completed but release date remains unconfirmed

A complete draft of the script for the third Sherlock Holmes film has been finished, according to screenwriter Chris Brancato. Despite the project being in development for 15 years, an official release date has not yet been set.

Production remains dependent on the busy schedule of Robert Downey Jr. and decisions from the production team. While the first two films directed by Guy Ritchie earned over $1 billion at the global box office, Dexter Fletcher has taken over directing duties for this installment. Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are expected to return as the lead characters.

Producer Susan Downey is noted as having significant influence over the film's future. There has also been discussion regarding a potential setting change, moving the action from London to a version of Baker Street in the United States, though this has not been finalized.
