Sherlock Holmes films return to streaming services
The Sherlock Holmes film franchise, directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, is returning to streaming platforms.
The 2009 film, which features the detective duo investigating the criminal Lord Blackwood, is available on platforms such as Viaplay and Apple TV. In the film, Ritchie opted to omit traditional elements like the deerstalker hat and the phrase ‘elementary, my dear Watson’ to align more closely with Arthur Conan Doyle’s original stories.
The 2011 sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, is scheduled to return to HBO Max on November 1, 2026. This installment follows Holmes and Dr. John Watson as they confront Professor James Moriarty, whose criminal activities threaten to destabilize Europe. The sequel earned approximately $543.3 million at the worldwide box office.
