Sherlock Holmes Takes the Stage in Italy with New Play and Author Talk

On 8 August 2026 a theatrical production titled “Sherlock Holmes – L'ultima avventura” was staged at Villa Cucchetta in Dormelletto as part of the Lakescapes theatre‑diffusion series on Lake Maggiore. The play, written by Emiliano Poddi together with students from the Scuola Holden in Turin, imagines Arthur Conan Doyle’s 1890 stay at a Swiss spa where Holmes and Watson, invisible to everyone but Doyle, investigate their creator’s silence and the mystery of why he has stopped writing new cases.

Later that evening, at the Mondadori Bookstore in San Benedetto del Tronto, science writer and CICAP co‑founder Massimo Polidoro presented his books *I fantasmi di Sherlock* and *Il mistero delle origini dell’uomo* in the “Incontri con l’autore” series. The event featured a fictional Sherlock Holmes conducting an interview, blending literary discussion with the detective’s deductive style and highlighting the enduring appeal of the Holmes canon.
