Sherman Kemp captured in Dominican Republic after US escape
Sherman Kemp, a 47-year-old American fugitive known as ‘Goose’, was apprehended in the Dominican Republic’s National District on October 22. The arrest was the result of a coordinated operation between the Dominican National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and the United States Marshals Service (USMS) following intelligence and tracking efforts.
Kemp had escaped from US federal custody on September 10, 2026, while serving a 27-year sentence for drug trafficking and illegal firearms possession. His convictions included conspiracy to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine and heroin.
Following his detention, Kemp was returned to the United States on October 23 and handed over to marshals in Miami. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding his initial escape.
