SheroTalk initiative holds domestic violence awareness event in Madrid
The SheroTalk initiative, part of the ‘Love Wears Red Shoes’ campaign, recently held an event in Madrid to address domestic violence and its invisible forms. Organized by Alessandra Stoicescu, president of the Mereu Aproape Foundation, the event targeted Romanian women living in Spain.
The campaign advocates for concrete measures to protect victims, including the implementation of an aggressor registry. The Madrid gathering followed previous meetings in Timișoara, London, Constanța, Rome, and Bucharest.
The day included a flashmob at the Alfonso XII monument in El Retiro Park, where dozens of Romanian women dressed in white with red shoes gathered to honor victims of violence. This was followed by a meeting at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Madrid, where participants shared experiences and discussed the importance of community and awareness in combating abuse.
