Sherwin-Williams ends paint manufacturing in Jamaica

Sherwin-Williams has ceased paint manufacturing at its White Marl facility in St. Catherine, Jamaica. The final day of production at the site was July 31, 2026, ending a manufacturing presence in the country that dates back to 1974.

The company is transitioning to a distribution-focused model for the Jamaican market. Products previously manufactured locally, including various automotive, architectural, and industrial finishes such as the ‘Kem’ line, will now be produced at other Sherwin-Williams facilities within its international network and imported into Jamaica.

While the manufacturing portion of the White Marl site will undergo decommissioning through 2027, the distribution center will remain operational. Sherwin-Williams stated that its 24 company-owned retail stores and distribution operations in St. Catherine and Montego Bay will continue, and the company does not expect the transition to disrupt product supply. Regarding staffing, 14 employees were separated following consultations, while seven were transferred to other positions. The company expects to continue employing approximately 180 people in Jamaica.
