Shōgun Season 2 completes filming in Canada
Production for the second season of the FX historical drama ‘Shōgun’ has officially wrapped. Filming took place over approximately eight months in various locations across British Columbia, Canada, including Vancouver, Burnaby, and Kamloops.
Set ten years after the events of the first season, the new installment will follow the continued saga of Lord Yoshii Toranaga and English sailor John Blackthorne. Because the first season fully adapted James Clavell’s original novel, the second season features an original continuation of the story. Showrunner Justin Marks has indicated the new season may take an unexpected direction with an increased focus on romance set against a backdrop of war.
Leading actors Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis will reprise their roles, with both taking on expanded behind-the-scenes responsibilities as executive and co-executive producers, respectively. The production, which included a ten-episode order, now moves into the post-production phase. No official premiere date has been announced by FX or Disney.
