Shia LaBeouf Seeks Arbitration in FKA Twigs NDA Dispute

Actor Shia LaBeouf has filed court papers in Los Angeles asking a judge to move his ongoing legal dispute with singer‑songwriter FKA Twigs (Tahliah Barnett) to private arbitration, citing the arbitration clause in their 2025 settlement agreement.

Barnett’s latest lawsuit, filed in March, challenges the enforceability of the nondisclosure agreement tied to the 2020 sexual‑battery settlement, arguing it violates California law, including the STAND Act. LaBeouf’s attorneys contend the plaintiff’s filing contains “inflammatory and irrelevant accusations” and that the settlement requires any further issues to be resolved behind closed doors. The court must decide whether the case will remain in public court or be sent to arbitration.

The dispute follows a 2020 lawsuit by Barnett alleging sexual battery and related claims, which was settled privately in 2025 with a confidential NDA. Both parties have since exchanged legal filings over the NDA’s validity.
