Shiba Inu faces price decline and volatile Shibarium network activity

Shiba Inu (SHIB) is experiencing significant market volatility, with the token price falling approximately 23% from its August peak. Despite the price decline, derivatives activity has seen a notable rebound, with perpetual futures open interest rising 81% from July lows to over $50 million. This increase in open interest alongside falling prices suggests heightened volatility and potential risks for leveraged traders.

On the network level, the Shibarium layer 2 blockchain saw a massive 507% spike in daily transactions on August 9, reaching 4,480 transactions, before quickly reverting to a baseline of approximately 831 transactions the following day. While user activity remains inconsistent, developers are continuing to expand the ecosystem, recently adding documentation for ERC-4337 gasless transactions and ShibaSwap SDK integration.

Security remains a primary concern for the community. Shibburn has issued warnings regarding various scams targeting SHIB holders, including fake airdrops, malicious smart contracts, and fraudulent investment offers designed to steal seed phrases or private keys.
