Meme coin market shows volatility with Shiba Inu and Dogecoin shifts

The cryptocurrency market is experiencing significant volatility, particularly within the meme coin sector. Shiba Inu (SHIB) has seen mixed developments; while it recently experienced a 16% price drop due to intense selling pressure and a 63% decline in trading volume, it also saw a 22% weekly gain and a 441% surge in its 24-hour token burn rate, with 41.8 million SHIB removed from circulation.

Blockchain data highlights long-term holder behavior, noting a top-50 Shiba Inu whale that has maintained a balance of 5 trillion SHIB for over four years despite a 91% decline in the token's dollar valuation since 2021.

Other major meme coins are also seeing movement. Dogecoin (DOGE) has risen approximately 33% month-to-date, while tokens like Pepe (PEPE) and Pudgy Penguins (PENGU) have posted substantial weekly gains. Meanwhile, new projects such as Apeing are attracting speculative interest ahead of planned launches. In the broader market, Chainlink (LINK) is trending following price targets set by analysts, even as traders look for shorter-term opportunities in emerging presales.
