Shiba Inu social media posts go viral in Japan

Social media users in Japan are sharing viral clips of Shiba Inu dogs exhibiting expressive and curious behaviors.

A TikTok video from the account ‘yokukieruyatu’ has surpassed 1.15 million views, featuring a Shiba Inu reacting to being dressed in a bear-themed outfit from its puppyhood. Because the dog has outgrown the clothing, the tight fit caused the animal to display a visibly disgruntled and frustrated expression, which viewers found endearing.

In a separate trending post on X, a three-year-old Mame Shiba named Momo was observed scavenging through its owner’s backpack. The dog retrieved a packet of Ryukakusan throat lozenges, likely mistaking the packaging for its usual treats. The owner noted that the curious dog frequently explores bags and has previously brought items such as hairbands and bicycle parts to its owner.
