Shiba Inu token spikes 36% as South Korean traders drive rally

Shiba Inu (SHIB) surged 30‑36% in a single day in late July 2026, lifting its market cap by roughly $700 million. The rally occurred without any announced partnership, protocol upgrade, or major news, and was concentrated on South Korean exchanges. Data from Upbit and other Korean platforms showed that the SHIB/KRW pair handled over 10% of global SHIB volume, creating a local premium that pushed the global price upward.

On‑chain analysis identified a previously inactive whale that bought about 30 billion SHIB from Binance, a purchase worth around $125 000. Simultaneously, token‑burn activity spiked, with 401 million SHIB sent to dead addresses—a 5 200% daily increase—while Coinbase moved 1.16 trillion SHIB between its internal wallets, a routine re‑balancing operation that did not affect market pricing. Despite a net inflow of 69 billion SHIB to exchanges, the price continued higher, rebounding past $0.00000456.

Other meme coins such as Dogecoin and PEPE saw only modest gains, underscoring that the price move was specific to SHIB. Technical indicators show the token still facing strong resistance near its 20‑day EMA, but the combined effect of Korean buying pressure, whale accumulation, and heightened burn rates has reignited speculative interest in the meme‑coin.
