Shibata Fender Team Provides Custom Donut Fenders for Denmark Ferry Upgrade

The ferry terminal at Sjællands Odde, Denmark, is being refurbished to accommodate a new fleet of larger electric ferries as part of the world’s largest maritime electrification project. Operator Molslinjen A/S required additional guidance to keep vessels correctly positioned against the area’s strong winds. Shibata Fender Team supplied four customized Donut Fenders (3500 × 5700 mm) that float with the tide, maintain a consistent contact height and provide a soft, long surface to stabilize ferries while berthed. Precise engineering was needed because the final fender dimensions depended on measurements taken after pile installation; the fenders were adjusted to match pile tolerances. Production and delivery were carried out by the company’s facility in Rechlin, Germany, and the entire order‑to‑installation process was completed in about six months while the terminal remained operational.
